There are some foods that can increase risk of cancer while others can contribute to reduce and prevent this fatal disease.

Vegetables and fruits

According to Shona Wilkinson, a nutritionist from the Nutri Centre, you should eat about 4 to 5 kinds of vegetables and fruits in colours of red, yellow, amber and dark green every day. With vegetables, you should choose carrot and red radish because they contain carotenoids and vitamins preventing the oxidation and protecting cells from cancer. Besides, some vegetables such as green cauliflower, kale, cabbage and spinach have glucosinolates. When these compounds enter your body, they are dissolved, helping protect normal cells from degeneration and turning into malignant cells.

Cocoa

Cocoa, a food that is high in antioxidants and prevents cancer, is contained in chocolate. On the other hand, cocoa has a high amount of polyphenol, which can prevent prostate cancer in males. So you should eat pure chocolate bars that are rich in cocoa and low in sugar.

Fiber

Fiber prevents intestinal cancer by quickly digesting foods and excreting toxins that can cause cancer, thereby reducing the time for those poisons to invade the intestinal wall. Fiber is rich in vegetables, fruits, breads, oats, brown rice and nuts.

Tomato

Tomato contains high concentration of lycopene, vitamin C and vitamin A that protect cells from genetic damage. Therefore, tomato can prevent cancer. Combining lycopene, vitamin C and A will prevent cancer more effectively than supplying them as a drug individually. So, tomato is a fruit that you need to include in your daily diet.
