The World Health Organization recently released a report on the global status of alcohol. It is no surprise that Europe is home to the world’s heaviest drinkers. Moldova is named the world’s leader in alcohol consumption. Its per capital alcohol consumption is three times more than the global average of 6.1 liters. The top of heaviest drinking nations also include Russia (15.76 liters), Britain (13.37 liters), France (13.66 liters), Ukraine (15.60 liters), Croatia (15.11 liters), Estonia (15.57 liters), Portugal (14.55 liters), Belarus (15.13 liters). Moldovans drink 18.22 liters of pure alcohol per capita, more than citizens of any other country. Its per capita alcohol consumption is three times more than the global average of 6.1 liters.
