Daily housework usually leave your hands feeling rough, chapped and tired. Because your hands are always on display, having pretty hands and nails is one thing that many women desire.
Here are 5 tips that help you keep your hands healthy, beautiful and moisturized.
1. Wash and moisturize your hands properly
It’s important for you to wash your hands regularly and properly. You should soak your hands in warm water and clean them with a gentle soap or a hand wash. Make sure to dry them with a clean, preferably fluffy, towel because wet hands can make way for bacteria and germs.
When your hands are dry, you should apply a moisturizer that is suitable for your skin type. Before you go to bed every night, you can moisturize your hands to keep them soft and supple. You can also use a face cream for extra strength and moisturization, or create a homemade moisturizer by mixing glycerin and cucumber juice.
2. Avoid nail salons
Nail salons often skip the autoclave, which sterilizes tools with high pressure, saturated steam. Having un-autoclaved tools applied to your hands increase your risk of getting a skin infection or nail fungus. Therefore, staying away from the salons and learning to give yourself a manicure are the best ways to protect your hands and keep them healthy.
3. Cut your nails
Like toenails, your nails should also be cut frequently. You can file them afterward if necessary. But remember to keep the nails short as well as try to cut them the same length and shape.
4. Stop getting dish soap on your hands
Soap you use to wipe always plays an important role in how your hands look. So you need to stop getting dish soaps because they make your skin chapped and dried out. A right soap should be sulphate free, have glycerin which is good for sensitive skin, vitamin E, shea butter for moisturizing, no artificial coloring and essential oils.
5. Wear gloves and apply sunscreen
To prevent your hands from a lot of exposure to hot water and harsh cleansers when you use dish soaps, it’s essential for you to wear rubber gloves. A pair of rubber gloves may be cumbersome but they can actually protect your hands from getting dry and rough. Besides, when you are on the beach, don’t forget to apply sunscreen to the back of your hands to protect them from sun damage, skin spots and overexposure to the sun's harmful rays.
